Day 2 - Lerci (Italy)
It was in the Villa Magni near Lerici that Percy Bysshe Shelley spent his last happy days before sailing his small boat on its stormy fatal voyage on July 8, 1822. Lord Byron, another Lerici literary resident, once swam across what is now called the “Golfo dei Poeti.” The small fishing villages of San Terenzo, Tellaro and Fiascherino and Montemarcello are similar to the more famous Cinque Terre.
-
Day 3 - Portoferraio
Known as the Pearl of the Mediterranean, Elba is a glorious paradise of azure waters, hidden coves, tranquil beaches and stunning views. Elba's restaurants serve excellent seafood, and small private vineyards produce local Moscato and Aleatico wines.
-
Day 4 - Sant'Amanza (France) - Bonifacio
Sant'Amanza is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island of Corsica. Located on it's southern most tip, it is surrounded by limestone cliffs, granite rocks and scrub, with sands lapped by crystal clear azure waters. It is a popular location for water sports including kite surfing. Bonifacio's almost land-locked harbour is one of the most dramatic, totally protected harbours. It is a bustling port with excellent seafood restaurants, and a modern marina. The ancient citadel town is perched high atop a seemingly impenetrable cliff.
-
Day 5 - Alghero (Italy)
Alghero is the main resort in the northwest of Sardinia and one of it's most beautiful medieval cities. It's bustling historic centre is packed with excellent bars and restaurants making it a great place to hang out. It is also ideally placed for exploring the beaches of nearby Riviera del Corallo. Interestingly a form of medieval Catalan is still spoken even though the Iberians left three centuries ago.
-
Day 6 - Porticcio Beach (France) - Ajaccio
The medieval city of Alghero has a unique character. The historic centre has superb bars and restaurants while the nearby Riviera del Corallo offers stunning beaches. Perhaps head to the centro storico with its cobbled lanes and beautiful palazzi, visit the impressive cathedral or see the magnificent yachts in the marina.
-
Day 7 - Monaco (Monaco)
Perhaps stroll along the charming narrow streets of the old town, head to the fascinating Oceanographic Museum where you can learn about marine science or visit the magnificent cathedral, built with white stone.
