What activities take place on board?
The Daily Program lists the next day’s activities and is delivered to your cabin every evening.
Are Dining Room reservations required?
On the Clipper deck of the Star Clipper and Star Flyer, and on the Commodore deck of the Royal Clipper, the dining room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on an open-seating basis. No reservations are required.
What attire is suitable onboard Star Clippers?
Evenings - casual elegance (Jackets and ties are not required - no shorts and t-shirts)
Daytime - casual.
How do you pay for items on board?
Upon embarkation, an account is automatically opened for you to charge all shipboard expenses. American Express, MasterCard and Visa are all accepted onboard. Your account is payable at the end of the cruise by credit card, traveller’s cheques or cash.
Is there air conditioning onboard?
The dining room and inside bars have air conditioning. Cabins have their own controls.
What are the electrical currents onboard the ships?
Star Clipper and Star Flyer - 110 volts and requires an American adapter.
Royal Clipper - 220 volts and requires a European adapter.
Is there a cabin safe?
A safe is provided in your cabin for storing valuables during the cruise.
Are hairdryers available onboard?
Hairdryers are in all cabins except cat 6 on the Royal Clipper.
Are towels provided?
Towels are provided for swimming and in the cabin.
Is there a laundry service?
Laundry services are available onboard for a nominal charge. Dry-cleaning is available only on Royal Clipper, for a nominal charge.
Are pools onboard salt water or fresh water?
The pools on all of the ships are salt water.
Can you help the crew with the sails?
Star Clippers have their own crew, but they may allow passengers to help at certain times. This is not a working holiday.
Are gratuities included?
No, these are to be paid at the end of your sailing. The suggested amount is 8 euro per person per night onboard. A 12.5% service charge is added to bills when ordering drinks.
How long must passengers passports be valid for?
Passports should be valid for 6 months after your return date.
Are Visas required?
It is the passengers responsibility to check visa requirements. Please check with the relevant consulate.
What vaccinations are required?
Please check with your local G.P. for up to date information on vaccinations.
Is there a Doctor on board?
A Registered Nurse is either on staff or is available from shore. In addition, the ship’s officers are qualified in administering first aid. Should a passenger require hospital treatment, the ship is almost always near a medical facility on shore. Passengers requiring prescription medicine are advised to bring them onboard. Only over-the-counter medications are available at the Sloop Shop.
Can passengers smoke onboard?
Passengers can smoke in designated areas on deck.
Are there facilities to telephone and e-mail onboard?
All cabins have a direct dial telephone. There are e-mail facilities onboard, where you can send e-mails.
Are there facilities onboard to change money?
No, there are no foreign exchange facilities onboard.
